Artificial intelligence is a family of technologies, not one product or one level of capability. Daily Junction covers consumer tools, workplace adoption, scientific uses, policy and risk while separating demonstrated performance from marketing claims.

A quick test for AI claims

Ask what the system was tested on, what “better” means, how often it fails and whether a person can challenge the result. A benchmark score may not predict real-world performance, and a fluent answer is not proof of accuracy. The consequences of a mistake matter: a drafting assistant and a medical or employment decision require very different safeguards.

For UK data-protection guidance, see the Information Commissioner’s Office. Government policy and research are published by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology. Technical claims are strongest when they link to the underlying paper, model card, evaluation or regulator rather than a product announcement alone.

Questions readers commonly ask

Will AI replace jobs?

Some tasks will be automated, some roles will change and new work will appear. The effect depends on occupation, adoption, regulation and how employers redesign work. Treat any single economy-wide forecast as a scenario, not a timetable.

Is an AI answer a source?

No. It can help locate or summarise a source, but the evidence remains the underlying document, data or named expert. Daily Junction’s machine-readable index is designed to make the publication easier to cite accurately.
