This page explains how to report content or behaviour on Daily Junction and where our process stops. It covers articles, comments, live chat, the arcade lounge, quiz leaderboards and other reader-participation features.

If someone is in immediate danger

Do not wait for Daily Junction to respond. In the UK, call 999 for an emergency. If you are outside the UK, use the emergency number where you are.

Daily Junction cannot dispatch help, investigate crimes or preserve evidence on behalf of the police. GOV.UK maintains an online media-safety directory with official and specialist reporting routes for harmful content, fraud, child sexual exploitation and other serious issues.

Report something on Daily Junction

Use the content and safety report form. A useful report includes:

• The URL of the article, video, game, chat or discussion.
• The display name involved, if there is one.
• The approximate date and time.
• A short explanation of the risk or rule you believe applies.
• The exact words or behaviour at issue, without unnecessarily repeating private or harmful material.

The form can accept a report without an email address and can display the reporter as “Anonymous”. That does not make it technically anonymous: the service records limited technical information, including a protected representation of the network address, for security and abuse prevention.

After submitting, keep the ticket link private. Its ticket ID and access key allow the holder to open the conversation.

What you can report

Report content or behaviour that may involve:

• Threats, targeted abuse, harassment or hateful conduct.
• A person's private information being posted without permission.
• Impersonation, scams, spam or undisclosed promotion.
• Sexual exploitation or content that may endanger a child.
• Instructions or encouragement for serious harm or illegal activity.
• Dangerous misinformation where there is a credible risk of real-world harm.
• A repeated or serious breach of the community guidelines.

How reports are handled

Content and safety reports are excluded from the support AI response path and are reserved for human handling. Automated filters may also limit obvious spam or abusive submissions before they appear.

A report is information for assessment, not an automatic removal order. Context matters, and we may keep, limit or remove content after review. We do not publish a guaranteed response or resolution time. If you provide no email address, return to the private ticket link to look for an update.

If we need to reduce an immediate on-site risk, we may restrict content or participation while the issue is considered. Serious or repeated breaches can lead to posting restrictions. Where the report concerns your own moderated contribution, you may ask for a review through support.

Preserve evidence safely

• Keep the original URL and note the time you saw the material.
• Take a screenshot if it is safe and lawful to do so.
• Do not repost harmful content merely to prove that it exists.
• Do not confront a suspected abuser if doing so could increase the risk.
• Do not send passwords, payment-card details, access keys or identity documents through the report form.

If online material appears to promote terrorism or immediate violence, GOV.UK provides a dedicated terrorism and extremism reporting route. Call 999 instead if a crime is in progress or someone is in immediate danger.

Children and young people

If a child may be in immediate danger, contact emergency services. The GOV.UK directory above links to CEOP and Report Remove for specialist help involving online sexual abuse, exploitation or sexual images of a person under 18.

Do not upload or forward suspected child sexual abuse material to Daily Junction. Report its location through the appropriate official channel.

Confidentiality and limits

Our report form is not an end-to-end encrypted disclosure system. We limit access to tickets operationally, but no ordinary website form can promise absolute secrecy or anonymity. Do not use it for a high-risk confidential disclosure. See News Tips for the same distinction in a newsroom context.

Daily Junction reporting does not replace police, regulator, court, employer, school, safeguarding or platform-reporting procedures. Using our form does not pause any deadline that applies elsewhere.
