The Bank of England has published its weekly report for the period ending 8 July 2026, providing a summary of the central bank's operations across its full range of responsibilities.
The report covers the Bank's activities in monetary policy, financial stability, prudential regulation, payment systems and debt management. It provides a concise account of the decisions taken, the publications issued and the operations conducted during the week, and it serves as a public record of the Bank's stewardship of its statutory responsibilities.
The report is part of the Bank's commitment to transparency and accountability. The Bank publishes a weekly report, a monthly Monetary Policy Committee minutes, a quarterly Monetary Policy Report, an annual report and accounts, and a range of other publications designed to ensure that the public, parliament and the financial markets can scrutinise the Bank's performance against its objectives.
The Bank has said it regards transparency not as a burden but as an essential component of its legitimacy. "We are a public institution with significant powers that affect the lives of every person in the country," the Governor has said. "We have a duty to explain what we are doing and why. This weekly report is part of that duty." The Bank has committed to continuing the publication of weekly reports as part of its programme of transparency and accountability.
